   A rebirth or revival.

   Digital upstarts like Buzzfeed and The Verge are relying on “long-form” editors to create big features. Heralding “a coming renaissance of long-form journalism,” the twitchy news site Politico hired away the editor in chief of Foreign Policy magazine last summer to commission writerly, deeply reported stories.

   The news of her death is shocking, in part, because she was in the midst of a late-career renaissance. It seemed possible that we would see her continue to play some of these characters, not to mention a raft of new ones, for another generation.
